Packing for Nosara's Waves and Adventures
A successful trip here, whether it's surfing the waves, driving ATVs through the jungle, or simply enjoying the serene, lush surroundings requires thoughtful preparation. These 10 indispensable items will ensure you're equipped for the sun, sand, and exploration awaiting you.
Keep in mind that Nosara’s local boutiques and shops offer beautiful clothing, jewelry, and unique artisan goods, so you may want to save some room in your suitcase!
Important Travel Notes
Phone Operation: It is highly important to figure out how your phone operates in Costa Rica before you arrive to avoid unnecessary and expensive roaming charges. Consider purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival.
Money Matters: Credit cards work fine at most establishments. However, it's great to have cash for tipping, especially for guides, drivers, and restaurant staff. US dollars work well for this purpose.
Safety Precaution: Photocopying your passport is always a great idea. Keep one copy separate from your original passport and a second copy safely tucked away in your suitcase. I keep a photo on my phone as well.
The 10 Essentials
1. Surfing Gear and Athletic Wear Nosara is a renowned surf mecca. Be sure to pack your essential surfing gear (rash guard, surfing bikini/suit, beach towel). Additionally, bring your athletic wear to take advantage of the numerous yoga and fitness classes, and to stay comfortable while enjoying activities like exploring the jungle on an ATV.
2. Protective Headwear and Sun Coverage (Hat or Cap) Protect yourself from the strong UV rays while on the beach or relaxing by your villa pool. A stylish hat or cap is a must. Nosara’s tropical climate means constant sunshine.
3. Sunglasses for Sun and Dust For those planning high-adventure activities like driving ATVs or taking local transport, sun glasses are highly recommended. The scenic roads can become quite dusty, making sun glasses a vital accessory for your journeys.
4. Eco-Friendly Sun Protection and Repellent The tropical sun is intense. Please use eco-friendly sunscreen that safeguards your skin without harming the delicate marine environment. Furthermore, given your villa's proximity to lush rainforests, a sustainable insect repellent is essential for comfortable evenings and jungle walks.
5. Lightweight Cover-ups and Bathing Suits Nosara embodies a relaxed, coastal lifestyle. Pack multiple lightweight cover-ups and swimsuits that easily transition you from the beach to grabbing a casual meal. Comfort and effortless style are key to enjoying your villa stay.
6. Practical and Stylish Footwear Bring a variety of shoes to handle everything from navigating the jungle paths to enjoying dinner or browsing local shops. I wear flip flops everywhere... so stylish!
7. Adventure Day Pack & Reusable Bag A durable day pack is crucial for carrying water and essentials during excursions, like trips to a waterfall or exploring nearby beaches. Also, bring a sturdy reusable shopping bag for carrying treasures from the local boutique shops and markets, helping reduce waste.
8. Insulated Water Bottle Hydration is paramount in this climate. Keep your water or favorite drinks icy cold all day long with an insulated, reusable water bottle. This small step helps you stay refreshed while supporting Costa Rica’s strong commitment to sustainability.
9. Evening Attire for Villa and Town Warm tropical nights invite you to savor Nosara's local restaurants and low-key nightlife, or simply enjoy a quiet evening at your villa. Pack breathable, light fabric... think linen pants, airy sundresses, or shorts. A light wrap or shawl is also advisable for cooler evenings.
10. Camera and Chargers (US Standard Plugs) You'll want to capture the natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere of Nosara! Ensure you have all necessary chargers. Costa Rica uses the same plug type (A and B) and voltage (120V) as the USA, so you will not need an international adapter.
With these ten items packed, you are fully prepared for a comfortable and memorable stay at your luxury villa in Nosara. Please feel free to contact the E Street Surf School team for any assistance regarding your upcoming travel plans or to finalize your reservation.
