Yes and no. Beginner lessons are conducted in waist-deep water where you can easily stand, so advanced swimming skills are not strictly necessary. However, water comfort is important for a positive experience.

What equipment is provided for surf lessons?

E Street Surf School provides a surfboard and a wetsuit for every student if needed. Students only need to bring a swimsuit, a towel, and sunscreen.

Where is the meeting location for lessons?

Most lessons start and finish at Common Roots in Rye (2203 Ocean Boulevard). Arrangements can also be made to meet at 8th Street at 'The Wall' in Hampton, provided we have height and weight details in advance for gear sizing.

What is the youngest age for kids surf lessons?

We have taught children as young as 4 years old. For safety, children ages 4-6 must book private one-on-one lessons to ensure they receive the specialized, hands-on attention they need.

When is the best time to book a summer surf camp?

We highly recommend contacting us in January or February to express interest. Formal sign-ups occur in February and March, and our calendar fills quickly due to our small 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio.

Are your instructors safety certified?

Yes. Every instructor is CPR certified and our team includes trained Hampton lifeguards, ensuring a premier, safety-first environment for all students.

Is there food and Wi-Fi at your location?

When are Ladies Night dates announced?

Ladies Night dates are typically announced in February or March. We frequently add more dates throughout the season to accommodate high demand.

It’s not just about catching waves; it’s about the community, the respect for the ocean, and the thrill of that first independent ride. This year, we are doubling down on our mission to provide a boutique surf experience. We aren't interested in being the biggest school on the coast, we want to be the best for you. 1. The Gold Standard: Our 3:1 Ratio

We know parents have plenty of choices for summer surf camps, but we believe quality happens in small groups. That is why we are strictly maintaining our maximum 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio.

Why does this matter? * Safety & Fun: Smaller groups mean eyes are always on your kids.

The Independent Rider Goal: Our mission is to move students beyond just being pushed into waves. We want to impart the skills for students to paddle into their own waves.
Ocean Stewardship: We take the time to teach surf etiquette and safety awareness for fellow surfers, swimmers, and local beachgoers.

2. A New Taste of Summer: Après Surf with Chef Frank

We are incredibly stoked to announce a new partnership for 2026! We’ve teamed up with Chef Frank Verdillo of Common Roots to offer Après Surf Full Dinners. Imagine coming out of a sunset session to a gourmet, locally-sourced meal prepared by one of the Seacoast’s best. 3. Surf Nights & Corporate Team Building

We’re expanding our "After Hours" lineup to include more ways for everyone to get involved:

Ladies’ Surf Nights: A supportive, high-energy environment for women to shred together.
Family Sunset Surfs: Bring the whole crew for a golden hour session you won't forget.
Corporate Team Building: Looking to boost morale? We partner with local businesses to design custom surf experiences that create lasting bonds among employees.

4. Two Locations, Two Waves

To keep our group sizes small and the experience premium, we are rolling out our New Hampshire Kids Surf Camp dates in two phases:

Phase 1: Rye Kids Surf Camp dates will be officially opening VERY SOON!
Phase 2: Keep an eye out for our second release of dates at The Wall in Hampton, coming later this spring.
